Beginner Scratch which is a free program from MIT (see http://scratch.mit.edu/). Scratch makes it easy to create interactive stories, animations, games, music, and art by snapping together blocks of code. If you like, (and you get permission), share your creations on the web.
Students will be able to try different techniques including those you see below. A combination of clip art, freehand drawing, and computer code combine for amazing results. These are examples created by some of my former students:
