We will explore various word exercises that sharpen perceptions to enter poetrymind. While the emphasis will be on cultivating an appreciation for natural mind in relation to the elemental world around us, we will also work with ideas as a starting point for creating a poem and other hybrid texts.

Participants will be introduced to a variety of simple forms and techniques including haiku, call and response, list poems, chant, mini-epics among others. Some hands on bookmaking, photography, film, collage, calligraphy, broadsides, making a word box or finger painting  will be integrated into the workshop to aid in the creation of poems while using computer generated text.
