With supervision from parents and staff, students will be able to work on academics, computer projects, art projects, puzzles, games, chess, and checkers, etc. There is also space for social time.
Behavior Contract:
All who plan to attend must sign the behavior contract along with a parent or guardian. This signed contract must be submitted before a second visit.

The Serious Fun staff will offer two classes per week in which parents and kids are welcome to participate together.
Keyboarding:
Mondays from 9:30-10:30 we will focus on the essential 21st Century skill of keyboarding. My program, ABC’s and 123’s – Keyboarding Strategies for Grades K-8, is based on an alphabet poem written by Diana Hanbury King.

Scratch is a programming language for everyone. Scratch can be used to create interactive stories, games, music and art - and share them online. It is easy to learn and difficult to master. Entering PoetryMind:
Participants will be introduced to a variety of simple forms and techniques including haiku, call and response, list poems, chant, mini-epics among others. Some hands on bookmaking, photography, film, collage, calligraphy, broadsides, making a word box or finger painting will be integrated into the workshop to aid in the creation of poems while using computer generated text. click here for more info and to register...
Computers:
We have some computers. It is best if you bring a laptop with the software loaded (or come early and we can help you load it...). All you need is a wordprocessor or notepad application for keyboarding. We have 4 laptops that can be used and shared. We will add more computers as we grow.
Lights-on! Afterschool:
Homeschoolers age 10 and up are also welcome to come for the Lights-on! Afterschool Drop-in on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 2:30-5:30* for $15 per afternoon or all 4 days for $50. *If no one has dropped in by 4:00, Serious Fun reserves the right to close for the day. Serious Fun Library:
We have a nice library with a good selection of books. There are some wonderful books from which you can develop curriculum. Please come a see! You are most welcome to donate books, puzzles or board games to add to our collection.
*If these hours are competing with too many other activities, please let me know so I can add other hours! I can be quite flexible.
Serious Fun Space for Rent:
You can also rent my space for an activity. The fee is $20 per hour. If you are charging for your activity or need Serious Fun to take registrations or use our PayPal account, we can work that out with you.
